Cat Humps Arm
My cat humps my arm, but she is a fixed female so I just do not get it. Whenever I go to bed and I have my arm down beside me, my cat starts grabbing it and rubbing it with her bottom. I don’t know if this is normal or not for a fixed female cat. But I think it’s pretty funny. I just hope that it is not a sign of something being wrong with her! Or a severe mental condition.Right now, my 16 months old spayed Bengal sits quietly on my hip with her eyes closed enjoying the half stoned aftermath of a little sexual encounter with my arm. She’s going sit like this for ten minutes or so, before she takes up her usual cat routine, playing with her rubber ball, looking for interesting things behind the cupboard etc.The first time she did this was only two days after she moved in. I was playing with her and she attacked my arm quite violently, grabbing my arm with her front paws, biting and kicking with her hind legs. My arm looked like it’d gone through a meat grinder. I let her do it just for the sake of curiosity however, back then I didn’t understand at all what was going on.The next two times this happened I threw her off immediately and quite brutally. The message was pretty clear, and she left my arm alone after that for a couple of weeks. Then, one day while lying on the sofa surfing the web on my laptop, she straddled my arm again. This time she wasn’t aggressive, she kept her claws inside the paws, spinning slowly around on my arm, carefully biting my hand and shoulder while she rubbed her hind against my arm. Like in a trance. I gently “woke” her up and removed her after less than a minute – she meowed with discontent and left the room.A week or so went by, and the same thing happened to me on the sofa with my laptop, she straddling my arm. Again, for the sake of curiosity I decided to let her do her thing, but this time I didn’t remove neither her nor my arm. She kept at it for about four-five minutes, then climbed of my arm and sat on my hip with a strange and content look on her face. She sat like this for fifteen minutes squinting. My arm didn’t have a single mark btw. Now, this happens once, at most twice, a week. If I’m not going anywhere, I let her do her thang. It makes her happy. I’m not going to impose my human morals and modesty on her, as long as she keeps it at this level. She is otherwise such a well behaved and lovable cat. She sharpens her claws only on her scratch board, she keeps her stuff together in her litter box,) she’s always happy and I’m not kidding for I’ve yet to see her sulk. She collects her rubber ball and drops it in front of me if she wants me to play, if I’m busy she plays on her own, she wakes me in the morning, says goodbye when I leave, greets me every time I enter the door. She even avoids stepping on my keyboard so how about that? If she finds my arm handsome once a week, who am I to argue?

Same old song and dance by: Rooela Yep my almost 3yr old Russian Blue spayed female does this nearly every night before sleep. I’ve had her since she was a kitten, and she was so tiny I let her sleep on my chest or in the crook of my arm, a behavior she continues to this day despite being a pretty good sized girl. When she knows I’m settled in bed and going to sleep soon (usually reading) she climbs up on my chest and starts the kneading routine, followed shortly thereafter by the spinning and humping for 10-15 mins til she either jumps down, or the usual case settles, curls up and goes to sleep. She kneads throughout the whole thing, and being on my chest, shoulders and upper arms the kneading and spinning itself can sometimes be a nuisance or even painful, occasionally making me brush her gently to the side and off of me and saying ‘OW Raja!’. If that happens she’ll give me either a hurt look, or most likely an annoyed one, either settle down on or near me somewhere else or bugger off for a while. She’s always lying with/on me when I wake up, so she can’t be too hurt by being told off for it lol. It’s def become a nightly routine now, as much expected as my reading a few chapters before I actually go to sleep every night. I don’t see much wrong with it, in fact when she doesn’t do it and is nowhere to be seen it feels like an oddity now.

Weirdo cat by: Anonymous Hi my cat is Sunrise and she’s about 3 years old, but she does the humping much more violently. She grabs my leg and bites and then chases me around to grab my leg again. She’s not fixed yet, but if she gets fix will she still do this? It’s really starting to get on my nerves.

Her debut was last night by: Anonymous I’ve had my black Domestic short-hair since just before she was weened. I introduced her to solid foods. She’s 3 and will be 4 in March 2016. I had her fixed at 8mos old due to going into heat and staying there. Found out she had cystic ovaries. She’s been a normal house cat. I’ve taught her to never use her claws on people and she doesn’t. She doesn’t bite or nibble. She puts her paw on me for pets or nudges me with her head. Last night I was asleep and she was curled up beside me like always. She woke me moving around. Next thing I know, my hand is in her belly fur like usual, but now she’s humping my hand. Her body parts did not touch my hand, but my hand was between her thighs, resting on her tummy and she was humping away. I laugh, but I’m also floored. She’s never done this. Why now? Should I expect more? I guess only time will tell. I only hope that if this is a dominance thing, I find out before she starts taking control of things. Lol!

Kitty fun time by: CatToy As we speak my 1 yr old calico is humping my feet. She is spayed, and her names Lucy. She does it to everyone, and yes she does it on dominance. Cats can be nonsocial yet they can create clans. When they do they want to dominate and be top rank. Like social hierarchy.

cat humping by: she does it all the time 🙂 My 6 yr old has been doing this to everyone in the family for the past 2 yrs. anyway, if we are moving our arms animatedly or put our arm next to her, she assumes the position of a male cat. she proceeds to bite our hand (like the scruff of the cats neck?) and starts doing what we like to call the “two step” on our arm. Only after five minutes of this painful ritual does she squat down like shes going to hump. also, whenever we get loud (whether it be laughing, an argument, or a brawl) she “comes to the rescue” and bites (gingerly) on one of us to “Stop it!”. I guess that’s her way of giving us sum loving.

My cat is humping me now! by: Anonymous I have a female Persian cat that I rescued 3 years ago this past November. The following March she started humping me? We consulted with the vet and he said it was a behavioral thing and she was trying to dominate me. She has a spay scar so we know she is fixed. She only humps me and when my husband walks in the room she plays it off like she wasn’t doing anything. It is really driving me crazy. We have tried several different things but she is hell bent to continue humping me as frequently as she can.

My male cat does too by: Anonymous I have 4 neutered male cats, and only one does this. It’s weird, but I don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

My Female Cat Humps My Leg by: Anonymous My female cat does exactly the same thing but with my leg! and she is nurtured. my cat is now 9 years old and she has been doing this for many years so don’t worry there is nothing wrong with her. When ever she gets the chance she jumps up on to my leg, starts to make bread with her front paws while purring and rubs her.. on my leg over and over again, then after a while she leaves and lies on the floor somewhere looking very relaxed.
