Sleeping on my bed with my teddy

My cat has slept in my room with me since he was 7 weeks old, he is nearly 3 now. Early one morning he came in as usual and started sniffing everything and looking behind the mirror but doing it really hesitantly, he was really scared of something. Now he won’t even enter my room, he wants to thought, he sits at the door and sometimes puts a foot in but after 5 minutes of sniffing with one foot in the door he turns around and goes back out! I checked my whole room. I haven’t changed anything so the only thing i can come up with is that he can sense a spirit or something hehe. I would really love to know what he is so scared of though, it was SO random!

Cats and Spirits by: Jaz’s. Mom If you don’t believe in Ghosts then in addition to being sadly narrow-minded, you’ve obviously never seen a full-body apparition. I have. Once. Around 2005, my Cat jasmine acted strangely, she would calmly sit and stare at nothing, yet tilt her head from time to time. She also went from moving around freely to staying close to the walls upstairs, which is quite a behavior change. later in that year as i was moving up the stairs to the bedroom, I watched a full-body apparition walk by, right to left with his head down. I thought it was my husband and he was headed to the bathroom. I got to the top of the stairs, turned left and asked if he was okay….he answered from behind me. Burning Sage will cleanse the spirits, but not forever. I find if I ask them to stop messing around and walking up behind me , thereby Freakin me out when I turn and nobody is there…They listen and respect my request, which was along the lines of “good Lord! You have GOT to stop creeping up on me. You’re freakin me out”.After all They were human once too. Jaz is now comfortable years later, BUT she will still react when one pops in. Yeah. Cats are perceptive.

Ex’s Cat Senses Spirit? by: Deswy I’ve been staying with my ex for a few weeks, basically to square things away about a divorce (he’s been putting this off since I left him in 2008) among other things. He has a cat who I have pretty much been the sole caretaker of, and Champ and I have gotten very close. I’m Kemetic Orthodox and as such invite my Akhu (loved ones who have passed on) into my life on a daily basis. He suddenly developed a skittish attitude, hiding behind a chair in the kitchen and moving around unseen like a ghost himself. He was never like this before. I’ve never seen him like this. I’m seriously thinking about doing a smudging to cleanse the place to see if he “recovers”. This is not my first experience with cats displaying wild behavior when spirits are near. I am definitely a believer that animals can and do sense things many people who aren’t sensitive can’t.

No such thing as ghosts by: Shinkansen If we all settle down and remember the fact that there is no such thing as ghosts, and read the above helpful posts regarding a cat’s far superior range of hearing, you will discover the answer to your question! 🙂 The human mind is a very powerful thing. I mean, poltergeist activity and nightly hauntings have been completely stopped simply by removing a flashing LED alarm clock from a bedside table. The EMF pulses were inducing these experiences!!! Electromagnetic fields and their interactions with the human brain shouldn’t be underestimated! There is in fact a “God hat” that a Canadian professor has designed that induces a mystical experience or a “feeling that someone/something else is in the room with you”. Also, I’d personally like to think that when I pass away… if there IS some sort of afterlife, there’s plenty more to do than float around and turn household appliances on and off. So, no. Your cat can’t see ghosts unfortunately. It’s most likely just wired. Like most cats! 🙂

cats seeing ghosts i doubt it by: Anonymous These are all interesting reads and although I am too a cat owner (I have also seen my cat obsessively chasing and /or watching “imaginary” things), I am not convinced that its ghosts or spirit that she sees. Although I like the thought of it being possible for her to see these things I think its more a case of electric discharges in the atmosphere, and some are just tiny moths or flies that spark their ears. It may be possible that they are picking up on high frequency mouse squeaks behind walls or behind the skirting boards, that we can’t hear… Cats are capable of hearing much higher frequency sounds than we can, so it could be almost anything in your environment which is making high pitched sounds which is upsetting the cat or even perhaps an unfamiliar smell of previous cat/dogs or even rats that lived in the house.

I thought it was just my cat by: LoriV Our 4-yr. old gray/white male Tom has developed this behavior over the last 4 days. He goes into the kitchen where his (and his 2 female kitty sisters) food is kept, and his head jerks back/forth, and he bolts out of the room. He has hidden in the closet of the upstairs guest room for 3 nights now, and will only be coaxed out into the bedroom. I tried taking him downstairs this morning (physically) and set him down in front of the food and his feet barely hit the ground before he took off upstairs. This will sound insane, but my late mother has “appeared” many times in the past 3 years via a ceiling fan which has been turned off/on (as well as the light fixture attached to it) when no one is around (several times my husband and I have been sitting under the light when it comes on, and it’s really creepy). I’m wondering if perhaps she has moved into the kitchen (she loved to cook and bake). Am I insane or should I try asking the spirits to let him back into the kitchen, as suggested by a reader comment??Any help would be appreciated.

A similar experience by: Anonymous I was lying on my couch with my cat asleep on my lap. He suddenly opened his eyes and looked up at the ceiling and then his eyes trailed down to a spot in front of us. I definitely felt a presence, but did not know who it was. I got a sense that the presence was frustrated that I did not know it. Soon after, I got a call from the hospital where my mother had been, saying she had passed. I know it was her.

my cat did that to by: katie one day my kitten of only 4weeks was walking in my room. and i have a mirror that covers my closet, but i had lost my other cat of 19years only about a week before we got the kitten. she was playing in my book case. then she jumped off and HISSED at something. she looked in the mirror and arched her back like she was going to attack. she kept hissing at the corner of my room where my old cat used to sleep. now she wont even enter or walk past my room. my mom couldn’t get her back to normal for about an hour. she was like a statue.

Cat scared by ghosts by: Anonymous Helping a cat scared by ghosts. I had a friend whose cats were often prevented from going into the kitchen by ghosts. Whether you believe in them yourself or not is immaterial, they can be asked to allow the cats freedom in their own homes. This is what I did for my friend.Just sit quietly in the ‘haunted’ area and ask, aloud or in your mind, that the cats are not prevented from walking freely any more and that nothing else will be done to frighten them. You will feel the atmosphere lift and if the cat has been near at the time you will see a look of astonishment on his face as he timidly enters the room then gains confidence. There will be no repeat performance.

My cat sees ghosts! by: Anonymous THIS IS AMAZING, CAUSE MY CAT TUX ALSO CAN SEEGHOSTS. I OFTEN WONDERED IF THIS WAS AN EXTRASENSE ALL CATS HAVE? WHEN MY FATHER-IN-LAW DIED SEVERAL YEARS AGO. ON NEW YEARS EVE, MY CAT AND I WERE RESTING ON MY BED WATCHING TV, WHEN SUDDENLY HE LOOKED UP AT THE DOOR TO MY BEDROOM AND HIS EYES FOLLOWED SOMETHING ALL THE WAY FROM THE DOOR TO WHERE WE LIE ON THE BED. I TOO SAW A WAIVE FIGURE AT THE DOOR ANDTHE CAT’S BEHAVIOR PUT A CHILL IN MY SPINE. THENEXT DAY, AN AMBULANCE ATTENDANT KNOCKED AT THEDOOR TELLING ME TO GO NEXT DOOR THAT MY FATHER INLAW HAD DIED IN THE NIGHT & MY MOTHER-IN LAW NEEDED ME. ANYONE ELSE HAVE SIMILAR EXPERIENCES?
