Wild Cat As A Pet

Chica Wild Cat As A Pet

The wild cat as a pet. About 2-3 years ago, my family was driving home from a trip to my grandparents. My dad had noticed an injured cat on the side of the road, a light grey kitten with black stripes.

To make a long story short, we eventually took her home. She was totally crazy! Even though we had her front claws declawed, she could still climb up trees and up onto our fences and roofs!

And she wasn't even a year old! She has died last year unfortunately, being hit by a car while I was at school (she mainly stayed outdoors). Although she was petite for her age, I think it might have been possible we had gotten a half wild cat half domestic cat breed. Is that possible?

wild cat?
by: Betsy

I doubt that your kitty was a hybrid. Hybrids do exist, but they result from wild breeds that aren't native to North America. Savannah's are domestic/Servile hybrids and Bengal's are domestic/Asian Leopard Cat hybrids. There are some new hybrids up and coming although I am not familiar with them.

In theory it may be possible for a small bobcat to mate with a domestic female, but I don't know why either cat would naturally see any reason to do that. So I would guess that your kitty was not a hybrid. I'm sorry to hear that she got hit. That happened to a couple of my kitties when I was a child and it's awful. Now that I'm the grown-up, my kitties stay inside.
