Similar Water Cat Situation
by: DKGeneralLee

The younger of my two cats prefers to drink from the toilet rather than his water dish. So much so that when he hears the toilet flush, he runs to the bathroom to check if the lid is up.

If it is, he'll wait until the water stops swirling and then he'll put his front paws in the bowl and proceed to drink, some times he'll even use a paw to dip in the water and then lick it off his paw.

That paw dipping and then licking is how he usually drinks out of his water dish as well.

water cat wars
by: seeshells

my cat also likes to drink from the faucet. This is bothersome when you can't go in the bathroom without being knocked down by a fur train.

My solution was to buy him a kitty fountain. Under 40 dollars and well spent. Cats like clean water and I think he especially liked the running factor.

At first he wouldn't go near it but that's mostly because he is a "brat". I put his favorite treat near and after eating he tried it out. He loves it.

Water And Cats

Cats like fresh, cold water and appreciate twice daily changes if given water in a bowl.

It is also possible that your cat is diabetic.

Cat diabetes testing
by: Anonymous

You might want to have the cat tested for diabetes. My diabetic cat became entranced by moving water and drinking a lot is a sign of diabetes. If he's peeing a lot you should have him tested pronto.

What an interesting idea. I'm not sure what my cats would do if I were to give them tea to drink. Cats are so much fun.
