Tabby Neutered Girl Cat

by karen
(liverpool)

Hi my name is Karen we have a 14mnth old tabby neutered girl cat we idolize. Her or she is very spoiled. She gets in bed, likes to be fed her wet food from a little plastic fork and we love being at her beck and call.

She is a great hunter, likes to be out in the woods were we live all night and sleep on our bed all day. My problem is I want her to sit on my lap and be around me all the time and she just likes to come when she wants. unfortunately its on her terms and I would like to have her affections all the time.

So we thought we would give our home and time to a new kitten which we did and oh my god she was so upset setting on the new kitten then she was taking to trying to get out at all costs and not eating or coming in.

I felt so guilty we had a friend which took the kitten for us and now our cat is very put out. She wont look at us and just wants t be out. I feel like I have been given the cold shoulder. I think she does like her home but shes just not that affectionate. So we have our cat but with out the lap cat experience am so sad and crave the contact. Am I being too intense for my tabby neutered girl cat?

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes you are very lucky, I am envious but my cat has a brilliant life for a cat. I am pleased what I can give her and that she gives her own rewards to us by way of little rodent presents she leaves and little head rubs when shes up on the counter.

So I suppose that's her way of saying your mine and I,m glad about that. I will have to admire my furry friend from a distance as long as she is happy and I think she is as when she gets on her blanket she purrs and kneads it.

When she comes home she comes home to us so once again the saying you never own a cats but a cat owns you is very correct. My cat owns me and that's a good thing. I suppose because she would just take herself somewhere else and she doesn't keep in touch as I love to hear peoples tales of their cats it makes me smile thank you Karen.

Tabby giving the cold shoulder
by: Maggie

Cats all have individual personalities. We have two Ragdolls - one sits on my husbands lap and the other prefers mine. They come when they feel like it and not a minute sooner. My daughter has a Ragdoll that never wants to be a lap cat. Our cats are all indoor cats and do not have that independence that an outdoor cat has. We are their world.

Some cats want to be the only cat and I think that's what you have plus its more independent being an outdoor cat that has to be able to fend off predators. I'm sorry your cat is giving you the cold shoulder too bad we will never really know what goes on in their feline minds. Good luck to you in the future because it is such a joy to have a loving affectionate cat.
