Our cat Cheeseburger does a breaststroke action with his front paws before he drinks out of his water bowls. One is on carpet and the other one is on a tile floor. But regardless of which bowl he is drinking from it is always preempted by the swimming movement.
It is very odd and he is now trying to teach our 8 month old ragdoll kitten how to do the same thing. Is this weird cat behavior or something many cats do?
My six month old kitten Cho does the same thing! He acts like he's swimming the whole time he drinks. It's the stupidest looking thing!

My 5 monthold Tanzy also does a similar move when he drinks from my bamboo plant container. Just a few pawings and then he is redy to drink.
