Strange behavior cat

The strange behavior cat. Having cats most of my life I thought I had seen all the weirdness until now. I was at my girlfriends house playing with Nunzio her cat.

Then I Noticed his odd behavior. He will sit on the toy and scratches at it with his hind legs. and makes a strange cry and then rolls over and rubs it with his cheeks. Any suggestions on this or has any one witnessed this before thanks.
