My cat started recently licking the vertical blinds. Once he starts it is like he is crazed and cannot stop. I need to chase him out of the room. He will do it for a long time. Usually in the middle of the night when I am trying to sleep. I was afraid the weighted bottom pieces may be lead also but he licks above that. It is crazy. Why would they suddenly start doing that?

Cat with bad breath by: Amanda
My orange tabby (Lola) is a big fan of licking mini blinds. She likes to lick a lot of other things as well. The only problem I have with this is that her breath is truly nasty. When she starts licking you can smell it from several feet away.
Also she likes to lick my hands. When this happens only gasoline gets rid of the fish breath odor. She also cleans herself often and this leaves her smelling like tuna. Even though she has the worst breath of any living animal I still love her!

My cat does it too by: Barbara
However, he just does it when he is hungry. I was stunned to read someone else had a cat that does the same thing.

Window blind licker LOL by: Anonymous
I just googled "cat licks blinds" because my cat Trevor does the same thing, I originally thought it might be because they were a little cold and/or damp from being by the windows.
Other than it being a little odd and annoying at times, I've never been concerned until I mentioned it to a friend and she made a comment about how the blinds are probably made in China and I shouldn't let him do it (lead concern).
I've seen nothing that would make me concerned about his health, but admit I'm now a little paranoid.
