Love affair with litter box

Siamese Cat Picture

I am fostering a 1 year old female Siamese who seems to have this love affair/fetish with her litter box at night. I keep it very clean, but 5 or 6 times a night she goes inside of it (covered or uncovered) and scratches away for about 2-3 minutes.

I have had her checked for urinary tract infection plus all the regular blood tests and her tests come out just fine. Has anyone else ever encountered this type of behavior.

She is very good about using her box, but this behavior is keeping me up at night. I know I could move her to another room, but would rather find out why she is acting out this way.

Thanks for any input.
Pat

Love affair with litter box

Cats do ridiculous things to get our attention. Especially when he knows that he can wake you up and keep you up all the night with him. He will be much encouraged to do such things.

Pay more attention to your cat during day time and give more love and affection. But at night, at least act like you are sleeping and ignoring. When he gets the message that he could not get you up, he may change his behavior.

If you want to change his behavior you stated, you can try a little trick. We are going to mimic the natural instincts of your cat. I will explain it to you step by step.

1. 30 minutes before sleeping, have a play session using interactive toys. We are giving some physical exercise to your cat here. This mimics hunting behavior
2. After the play time, feed your cat with a treat which is high protein. Like few strips of grilled chicken.
By doing these things, we are mimicking his natural instincts. Next behavior in the list is sleep. I hope this would do the trick.

Wish you all the best and I invite you to
