Cat Odor Help

by KL
(Salt Lake City)

Hi Cat Lovers I need cat odor help. I am unfortunately not a cat owner, but was hoping that those of you who are might be able to help me with a problem I'm having.

I recently moved into a new apartment, and am fighting a lingering cat urine smell from the previous tenant's pets.

There is no carpet in the apartment; only wood floors and laminate. The smell seems particularly bad near two floor vents. I've tried cleaning the walls and floor with a mixture of water, vinegar, ammonia and baking soda with little success.

We have also been using a small air purifier, Febreeze pets and other odor-eater air fresheners. Still, the smell persists. Any ideas or suggestions that have worked in your experience? Especially for the vents? Thanks so much for any help you can give! All the Best from KL and family.

Cat odor from urine
by: Anonymous

Help for people with cat urination problems also! My cat started to urinate on my pillows about 3 weeks ago. He prefers the sofa pillows, but if they are not out he will use my bed pillows. He is three years old and has no health issues.

There is another cat in the house, but this is not new. They love each other and do not like to be separated. I do have two litter boxes and keep them both clean. I have seen products on the market to spray to prevent the unwanted urination, however I don't want to spray my pillows. Does anyone have any suggestions for Cat urination problems?

Never use products with ammonia to remove cat urine odors

Finding the exact spot is important, so finding the offending area will show up using a black light if you can get a hold of one. This way you can find the offending exact location and get rid of it. Some uses I found was: 15 ounces of hydrogen peroxide, two tablespoons of baking soda, and two squirts of liquid hand soap. Mix in a plastic container with a plastic spoon. Discard after use.

Apply this solution to cat urine stains or odor areas, and then rinse away with warm water. Try Simple Solution or Natures Miracle You may need to remove the air duct and clean inside, as well as soak the cover. And OdoBan Just remember after using any natural or store bought product. clean the area again with the proper cleaner for the type of flooring, carpeting etc to prevent damage from these products. Good luck.
