Cat Noises and Urinating

(Kent)

Cat makes noise and urinates outside the box. Hello, for about two months now my male cat (others are two females) has started making very loud meowing noises while around the house. I have also caught him using my downstairs sink and upstairs bath as a place to urinate. I managed to cover the sink and i make sure the bathroom door is now closed.

I cannot think of any major changes, although i have a baby. She visits every other week due to space in the home. This has been happening for 9 months, my cat issue only happening for 2 months at the most.

I am not sure if the urinating is aimed at something else outside, as the only places i have caught him doing it (other than the litter tray) is in areas with drain holes, i have let him out of the house but this has not changed a lot. Any suggestions?

Could Also be Infection
by: Anonymous

If your cat is still doing this, you should go to the vet. Cats will stop peeing in their litter boxes when they have a urinary tract infection because they associate the pain of urinating with the litter box.

The loud meowing could be him expressing the pain he is in. Male cats are much more susceptible to UTIs than females, so it is a high possibility that he has one and needs antibiotics.

My friends cat was doing this. My friend would pee in different parts of the house- corners, kitchen , bottom of doors, and the cat stopped.

is your cat neutered?
by: Mickey

If your cat is not neutered, he is probably catching the scent of an unfixed female cat in the neighborhood (they are VERY good at smelling pheromones, even from blocks away) and he wants to "find himself a girlfriend" *wink wink nudge nudge*

Male cats often spread their scent throughout their territory, urinating everywhere so that a female can tell he is available. I would get him fixed if the problem persists. If he is already neutered, well just make sure the litter box gets cleaned every day and I don't know what else. sorry.
