Cat Meows with Toys

by Lisa
(Eugene, OR.)

My boy cat is 7 years old and fixed for a long time now. Recently he meows with toys in his mouth or when standing over them. His name is Joe and he is our 7 year old baby male cat.

He is fixed and is a mostly indoor but sometimes an outdoor kitty. He recently started meowing desperately and carrying this toy that kind of looks like him around. What does it mean when a cat meows with toys?

Growls with toys
by: Bella

My 13 year old female cat named Kit, seems to have some sort of weird thing with socks and stuff toys. At different times, and for different times she will get socks or small stuff toys in her mouth, and growl while she carries it to me. Maybe different then a cat that meows with toys but similar as well.

She will do this over and over again until I acknowledge her. This can be three or four or more times until I say Good Cat and take the toy. She will also spread toys or socks all over the house when we are away.

When I worked a lot of night shift hours, and I would get the kids off to school she would drop toys in my bed while I was sleeping, again growling and guttural sounds not meowing. this would not stop until I acknowledged and thanked her. We have had Kit in our home as a member of the family for about 8 years, and this is a new behavior for her. Anyone have any ideas? Any input from someone in the same boat would be awesome.
