I had two long throw rug mats in front of the kitchen cupboards and sink. Then a throw one in front of the dishwasher and one in front of the fridge. After all the cats came (mommy and then she had 4 kittens...first cats for me ever) I was down to one. Have had to replace them and finally gave up. They just love to run and slide on the wood flooring and scratch them to pieces. They love to hold it and do that kicking and scratching with their back feet too. Wonder if they make a rug or mat that is cat proof? ha

My deceased cat used to take the mat off the edge of the tub and roll around with it in the tub and then pee on it, went through 3 rugs before I got wise and hung it over the shower rod, lol

Our cat Shelly likes rugs and welcome mats. Shelly will play with a welcome mat for hours. Maybe its because of all the wonderful smells from people wiping there feet? Shelly likes to dive under the mat and wrestle with it from underneath.
When she gets tired she will fall asleep under the mat. You just see the lump under the welcome mat and you know where Shelly is. By the way she also likes the bath mat but only after you shower and its slightly damp. Then she goes after it.
