In many ways the cat can be solitary creature that often seem to prefer their own company. I personally believe that cats need and value companionship. In there early months as kittens they will experience many bonding moments with their mother and siblings.

Cats always maintain their own sense of dignity and reserve, and unlike dogs are not particularly eager to please their owners. It is much more difficult to teach a cat a trick then a dog.

This sense of confidence in finding human caregivers can give a cat a very independent feeling that may be taken to the extreme. If this cat becomes upset with its current environment it remembers that all he has to do is move on to the next household and work his way into the family. It would seem that cats easily view the world as the grass is greener on the other side.
